At Bangalore, I recently got to coordinate a recent circuit by Vidwan Abhishek Raghuram, one of the most accomplished Carnatic vocalists among the younger generation. Vidwan Abhishek Raghuram conducted two programmes on 06 Feb 20 viz. at Parikrma School, Jayanagar during the forenoon and at The Valley School, Kanakapura Road during the post lunch session. He was ably accompanied by Vidushi Sornalata on the Violin and Vidwan K Sai Giridhar on the Mridangam. Vidwan Abhishek started by explaining the genesis of music from the sounds of the nature and went on to identify the basic ‘swaras’ in the nursery rhyme ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little star’. He replaced the English lyrics with Indian lyrics and accent progressively to arrive at a rendering of the rhyme in pure Carnatic style.
